As a condition of re-licensure Florida Pharmacists are required to successfully complete a Florida DOH approved continuing education program on medication errors [see rule 64B16-26.103(c)].

Making the Case for Quality
A way to Improve Patient Safety

As a condition of relicensure Florida Pharmacists are required to successfully complete a Florida Department of Health approved continuing education program on medication errors [see rule 64B16-26.103(c)]. The Florida Pharmacy Association is pleased to present this home study computer based continuing education program to assist pharmacists with this requirement.

At the completion of this program the participant will be able to: Identify the importance of quality improvement in health care including common causes of errors; discuss the impact of medication errors on patient safety; define elements of a continuous quality improvement (CQI) program to promote error prevention; differentiate between types of quality related events (QREs); describe the importance of CQI in community pharmacy practice settings; discuss current attitudes and experiences related to error reporting and identify ways to implement quality improvement processes in your pharmacy practice.

Please consider the following when ordering this program

  • This program will require you to have audio on your computer system
  • Make sure that your speakers are attached and turned on
  • If you hear Beethoven's Symphony #9 on the opening slide your computer sound system is working properly
  • You may also need to make sure that your computer has Windows Media Player Version 10.0.
  • When you load the disk you may be asked to accept the license agreement for PowerPoint Viewer. Answer "Accept" and the program will begin.
  • Case study material will be provided with your disk. You will need to have them handy during the program.
  • You should be able to use the forward and back buttons on the lower left side of your screen to repeat or advance to specific slides that you wish to review.
  • If you need to exit the program during the presentation hit your "Esc" button twice.
  • Complete the quiz at the end of the course.
  • Complete the course evaluation after the quiz.
  • Mail or fax the Quiz and evaluation to the address below.
  • You will receive your statement of continuing pharmacy education (CE slip) in the mail in approximately 2-4 weeks.
